Miniature Galloway calves are just the cutest, meet them when you come for a farmstay

Miniature galloway cattle have a great temperament and are just gobsmackingly gorgeous. They are great for small farms and we have a registered herd of breeders here at the farm who you get to help take care of when you come for a farmstay. Or if you're looking to buy some miniature galloways get in touch and let us know what you are looking for... heifers, bulls, steers, cows and if they are for lawnmowing/pets or if you plan to breed. nb: we do not sell single animals, they need to go with a friend.

Worried about the state of the world right now?

You're not alone.  Climate change, overseas politics...When I first wrote Honeycomb Kids - Big Picture Parenting for a Changing World and to Change the World, a number of people said "those scenarios will never happen", I even edited out a few pages on mass migration after being told it was too way out (doesn't seem too way out in Europe right now!). Fast forward to now - its like reading what is here...the gap between rich and poor, squeezing of the middle class, social unrest, globalism, terrorism to and by etc.

The Beaches Market Warriewood + Nabiac Farmers Market this Fri 28th Oct & Sat 29th Oct 2016

We're digging up fresh organic turmeric and loading the ute with honey for our monthly visit to The Beaches Market at Warriewood. Then Saturday prepare yourself for Nabiac Village Farmers Market. Both these markets have amazing stallholders and produce. Bring your empty Honeycomb Valley Farm honey jars to these markets for refills to save the environment and save some dollars for yourself too.

Pony rides and horse play for farmstay guests

Our pony Soda and thoroughbred Hollywood are available for hand-led pony rides for any children staying with us as farmstay guests. Learn how to groom, muck out paddocks and enjoy a hand-led ride as part of your farmstay. If the kids aren't into horses, there is also a chance to go on a quadbike trailer ride and there are plenty of ride-on toys like kid-size John Deere tractors and more. If you'd like to go on a trail ride during your stay, there is Clarendon Horse Riding not far from here and also beach horse rides available down Forster way.

Spring babies at the farmstay

So love this time of year when everything is green, the flowers are dazzling in colour, the bees are humming (including native bees such as the big, bold Carpenter bees)...and baby goats start appearing!  The pic below is of baby Gypsy, born to Gigi, one of our Saanen herd...cheeky and inquisitive already and only a few days old!

We're all booked out these holidays, so book your farmstay with us soon so you can come and enjoy all the activities on offer.

Using Sawdust for Veggie Garden pathways

The veggie patch is about 8 years old now and every few years we refresh the paths with free sawdust from the mill. We use sawdust as it's nice and soft underfoot, and is a snake and snail deterrent.

Originally we put down layers of cardboard to stop weeds getting through, but these have well and truly rotted through so this year we're putting down some weedmat underneath instead.
